Work Experience

Skilled Prototype Wireman, ESA Certificated, BAE Approved

Astrium – Colerne – Oct 2003 to present - Security clearance obtained. Installation of satellite ground station equipment. (M.O.D)

Astrium UK 2002 – Oct 2003

Disciplines – Installation of power and signal EDSS system, EMC foil wrap protection, system level testing on Metop Satellite Service Module. This has involved spending some time in Toulouse, France working on Satellite.

Aero Stanrew Limited 1985 – 2002

Disciplines – Unit wiring, panel wiring, cabling, R & D, fault finding, PCB population, also included prototype boards, hard wired by means of enamelled wire and speed wire, orthogonal wiring, board layout and component identification, limited testing capabilities, able to read and work to circuit diagrams.

Last ten years responsible for space division which included builds of satellite harnesses, Orion, Skynet, ST1, Nialsat, Polar Platform Telecomm 2, Metop.

Other companies I have been involved with includes Rolls Royce, Lucas Aerospace, Pilkington Optronics, Smiths Industries, BAE Systems, BAE Semar, Hymatic, Racal, Thorn EMI, A.B.B., Matra BAE Dynamics, Thomson Marconi Sonar.

The last four years of my time at Aero Stanrew Limited I was Production Manager in charge of the electronic build division. Duties included day to day running of the shop floor i.e. drawings, kit checks, shortages, component deliveries, customer liason and general paperwork. I was responsible for the supervision of up to 16 men.

Also during my time at Aero Stanrew Limited I spent some time working abroad and in the UK working for other other companies on jobs we had produced.

Plessey Communications 1972 – 1980

Installation of telephone exchange equipment. This involved working at various exchanges in the country.

Fairey Electronics 1971 – 1972 working as a wiring technician.

Hobbies: My general interests are reading, sport, walking, foreign travel and family life.
